Privacy Policy
Effective date: 26 October 2026 · App: Safe QR & Barcode Scanner (com.erdagitech.qrscanner)
Summary
Safe QR & Barcode Scanner is built to be private. Your scans and history are stored only on your device and are never uploaded. The app has no user accounts and no analytics SDK. The free version may show clearly labeled ads served by Google AdMob (see “Advertising” below).
Data stored on your device
- Scan history, favorites and settings are stored locally on your phone. We cannot see them and they are never uploaded.
- You can delete them at any time from within the app or by clearing app data / uninstalling.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are processed on the device and are not stored or transmitted.
Network requests
The app works offline. The only network requests it makes are:
- Configuration and blocklist download: the app fetches a small configuration file and a list of blocked domains from our server (barkod.erdagitech.com). No personal data is sent.
- Link reports (optional, user-initiated): if you choose to report a link, we receive the URL, the reason you select, an optional note, the app version and your language. Your IP address is not stored in raw form; it is stored only as a salted hash used to prevent abuse (rate limiting).
- Product lookups (optional): when you look up a barcode, the barcode number is sent to our server and to Open Food Facts to find product information.
- Product name suggestions (optional): if you suggest a product name, we receive the barcode number, the name and brand you enter, and a salted IP hash for abuse prevention.
- Short-link expansion (optional): when you ask the app to expand a shortened link, the request goes to the link shortener's server, which may see your IP address under its own policy.
Advertising
When ads are enabled, the app uses Google AdMob to show banner ads. Ads are never shown on the scanning screen or next to the buttons that open links. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address and app interaction data to show and measure ads, under Google's Privacy Policy. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent through Google's consent form, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Your scan contents and history are never shared with the ad network.
What we do not do
- No analytics SDK, no user accounts, no deceptive or full-screen ads.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties.
Data retention and deletion
Reports and suggestions are kept for as long as needed to maintain the blocklist and product database. To request removal of a submission, contact us at the address below.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
